Right now, you may be scared to get on a video, to show your face to the world.

You’re worried about how you look, what you say, looking stupid, sounding stupid – all the fears!

But if you’ve started a business, then you’ve done something that most people dream of and never do.You’ve already learnt and accomplished a lot!
And if you want to create videos for your business, to market yourself then this is just one more thing to learn.

And you can.

The trick is to start and every time you do one, you’ll get better – take a look at the clip at the end of this video, it’s my first one and truly truly awful!

Nowadays, I don’t have to think too hard about doing videos, it comes a lot easier because I’ve done a lot.

At first I made myself do them, cringing all the way. But over time, it gets easier. You become more confident.

The more you do, the better you get!

There’s no easy way to make you a video superstar straight away. I have some tips that will help, but the only way to get better at something is to do it. Again and again and again.

Start small and remember that everyone had to start somewhere.

Think about what you’re trying to say and how much it’s needed instead of how embarrassed you are at showing your face to the world.

And remember, mostly people aren’t looking that closely at you. They’re much more worried about their own lives and if you have something that will help them, they’ll be much more grateful for that than picking holes in how many times you say “um”!

Five Non Techie Video Tips

  1. Look at the camera, not the screen – you may have a little light at the top of your computer screen, this is where you want to be looking to make it seem like you’re talking directly to the person watching it.
  2. Sit in front of natural light if you can or if not natural light, then get a lamp in front of you so you’re face is visible and not shadowed
  3. Elevate your laptop so it’s more on line with your face, then it doesn’t look like you’re looking down at the watcher.
  4. Keep your background pretty neutral so it’s not too distracting or use a virtual background if you haven’t got a tidy space.
  5. Don’t sit too close to the camera – sit pretty central to the screen and check it looks comfortable before you hit record.

Let me know how you feel about doing videos for your business, love it or hate it?
